My career has been far from linear, but that’s how I like it

It’s been my great privilege to have served as the Deputy Mayor for our region since January 2022, providing the opportunity to give back to the community I grew up in and have chosen for my own family.

Back to the beginning….. Work experience and part-time work in various hospitality kitchens of Armidale inspired me to head to the city and complete my apprenticeship as a chef at the Sydney Hilton Hotel. This strong foundation enabled me to travel to the United Kingdom to work as a personal chef, including for the Australian High Commissioner in London.

My return to Australia found me managing various hospitality establishments in the New England region and led me to several years of cookery teaching at Tamworth TAFE.

I then returned to Sydney as a management systems consultant, trainer and auditor before being asked to resuscitate the Australian Dental Association NSW, Centre for Professional Dental Development as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

Most recently, and for close to a decade, I’ve worked for The British Standards Institution (BSI), a global professional services organisation with the purpose - Impact for a fair society and sustainable world. Working in Sydney, Singapore and now Armidale, I’m BSI’s Global Managing Director for the Consumer, Retail and Food sector, leading a team based around the globe.

As a graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and director of StateCover Mutual, I understand the fiduciary duties of councillors as directors of a not-for-profit sector organisation.

I'm a collaborator and improvement specialist with a history of stabilising and enabling change in businesses.
